How I took initiative during a time period where communication was disrupted and turned a loose concept into beautiful background art.
Work: 2-Week itch.io Game Jam

A game design project designed as a submission to a 2-week Game Jam on itch.io, A Mystical Perspective is a text-based game made in Twine where our goal was to make a forest-themed game with no trees whatsoever. While my passion pursuit is character design, as the Lead Artist for this project I had to apply my skills to background artwork since character design isn’t necessary for Twine. For this 2-Week itch.io Game Jam — thanks to the then active lock downs from COVID-19 — my team’s ability to collaborate in-person was severely limited. As a result, I worked from vague descriptions and fuzzy outlines of where the story would go. It was my idea that we set the story in a mystical mushroom forest. Taking inspiration from numerous sources, I designed a set of colorful and meaningful landscapes for the game. Ultimately, my teammate Trey Kivett was thrilled with how beautiful the background images turned out and for the very mystical feel they brought to the game.
