This collection includes game design projects I designed (or helped bring to life) during the start of my game design journey at college.
BattleQuest – Physical Board/Card Game
BattleQuest started as a pitch for a board game for a Game Design course that received enough support that it was one of four game ideas to get the green light for prototype production out of fifteen different game ideas. Through this project, I learned how to lead a team and how to plan out sprints and deadlines, and how to accommodate when those deadlines are not met. I learned that giving the design team a bit of leeway and room for suggestion is definitely a good thing, as simply giving them the general idea of what I wanted allowed for them to build on it and improve upon it, creating a wonderful board game in the process.
The Electoral Investigation – Twine
As a project in the Game Design club at HPU, we had to create a game with a partner over two weeks with the theme of “conspiracy.” Teaming up with my friend, Payton Grady, we created a murder mystery game in the Twine engine. I used the characters Payton created to write a heavily detailed story, and I learned how to write several character types that I never had experience with before.
Medieval Mayhem – Unreal Engine 4
Medieval Mayhem wasn’t just one of the biggest projects I have ever contributed to, but also the first project I became a part of after I fully realized my passion for character design. It was during this project that I got to put that passion to work – my task was to design, model, and texture three player characters plus one generic enemy character for a medieval-themed multiplayer “team-up-and-beat-up” game.
