Character Lineups & Turnarounds: Hollywood Animation Academy

During my time at Hollywood Animation Academy, I had the opportunity to practice character design under professional animators from Warner Bros., Disney, and DreamWorks, including a hypothetical video game Hero-Sidekick duo designed for Electronic Arts and a Wizards of Oz and Overwatch crossover.

Costume Design Turnarounds & Explorations: Hollywood Animation Academy

While being tutored in animation and character design by professional animators from Hollywood studios such as Warner Bros., Disney, and DreamWorks, I got to practice my costume design by reimagining well-known characters in a wildly different setting, such as Warner Bros.’ Daffy Duck in a “James Bond” style short and Disney’s Goofy as a pizza delivery boy.

Character Illustrations: Medieval Fantasy (Dungeons & Dragons)

Playing the tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons provided a creative outlet for me to draw quite a few character ideas over the years, taking what I learned from my other personal projects and my formal education and applying it to a genre I seriously enjoy working with. It also gave me a chance to refine my personal style – you can see its steady progression through each character image.

Character Illustrations: Pokémon Style

A self-motivated project to find my personal art style by studying and replicating the style of one of my favorite video game franchises: Pokémon. The franchise’s art style has evolved over the years, so I had to mix up my usual formula for a few of them to better match the era I was trying to replicate. Some constants of the style overall include high saturation, uniform purplish shading, and minimal highlights.
